Canopy tours originated in the lush rainforests of Costa Rica, where adventurous biologists erected a system of cables through the canopy layer of the forest in order to observe the fauna and flora in that previously inaccessible region. Approximately 11 years ago South African Civil Engineer, Mark Brown, visited Costa Rica where he ended up assisting the Costa Rican biologists in the construction of their canopy tours. Mark realized the tourist potential of the experience and brought his idea back to South Africa where he identified the Tsitsikamma Forest as the first site for a South African Canopy Tour. Canopy Tours South was born 10 years ago and have since expanded to include 6 Canopy Tours under the Canopy Tours SA banner. These are Tsitsikamma, Karkloof, Magaliesberg, Magoebaskloof , Drakensberg and Malalotja in SwazilanWhy a canopy tour in the Magaliesberg?
